Just like everything else on this green earth, Pride Skate Night took a hiatus for a while due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But as things started opening back up in recent months, so did the funfilled Pride Skate Nights.
When Extreme Action Park (5300 Powerline Road Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309), where the gayety takes place, told WMEG they were back open for business, we glided into action and set the reopening date for our skate night on September 2, 2020.
What a joy it was, and might we add a record-breaking night. We couldn't have been happier to see over 70 people, the most we ever had, come out and enjoy themselves on the skating rink. All the locals were out for the thrill, turns, twists, and tricks.
Local Entertainer Velvet Lenore was in the house with her crew in tow. In true diva fashion, she gave us all a show with her bright light-up skates circling the rink in a frontward motion along with some daring backward action. Momma got skills!
Some of the Lords family led by Father Roger Lords came out to join in the festivities as well. We also spotted the Legendary Kitty Meow stripped down as Shawn Palacious, Madame Pageant Queen Producer Alyson Thomas gave it a whirl, and The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence blessed us with their presence.
We're all back at it again. Skates, turns, twists, tricks, and music will set the scene from 7pm to 10pm every first Wednesday night of each month until further notice. So set your calendar for some rainbow pride fun!
