EXCITEMENT BUILDS FOR STONEWALL PRIDE 2021
Excitement is building for the Stonewall Pride Parade and Street Festival in Wilton Manors on Saturday, June 19 and the community is urged to get involved.
The annual LGBTQ+ celebration will unfold on Wilton Drive at 3 p.m. with a street festival which will include live music and vendors, followed by a parade at 7 p.m.
“Our twilight parade with the theme, “Out of the Darkness, Into the Light” is a great way for businesses to get involved, have fun and thank the LGBTQ+ community for their loyalty and support,” said Jeff Sterling, CEO of WMEG Community Marketing and Events which organizes the annual celebration. More than two dozen organizations have already registered to participate.
Corporations, community groups, and individuals are invited also to sponsor, participate as vendors in this year’s street festival and advertise in the official Stonewall guide. Booth spaces are limited and based on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, so early registration is encouraged at stonewallpride.lgbt or by calling (754) 200-1641.
“As a nonprofit organization, WMEG Community Marketing and Events relies on sponsorships and donations from the community to fund the public safety and operational costs associated with putting on event of this magnitude,” said Sterling. “The year-over-year success of this event is 100% due to the financial support from our community.
“This event has truly been part of the fabric of our community- last year was the first year in 20 years that we didn’t host the Stonewall Pride Parade and Street Festival,” said Mayor Scott Newton. “This year, additional safety protocols will be in place and we are looking forward to welcoming anyone who would like to join us for this outdoor event that will celebrate pride and inclusion.”
